Our newest GARS member went ALL THE WAY!
A big congratulations to Joe who joined me (Smitty) in Auburn to take his ham exam. Not only did he take the Technicians element, he also completed and passed his General AND Extra all at once. Congratulations Joe, it was great meeting you. We can’t wait to see you at the next GARS gathering.

You probably heard Phil mention on the net this week that it’s time to pay annual club dues. We’ve made it REALLY easy this year. You can do it all on our website, we also created a really easy link that takes you right to where you need to be: dues.garshamradio.org.

We’ve added an optional selection when you select your membership type to add a $1 donation to offset processing fees as well rather than adjust the dues in any way.

It’s with great sadness that we share the news of another SK. Bill Silva aka. “Colusa Bill” (KA6FKK) passed away on September 20th due to complications from a stroke.

From dialing around 40M to hearing him participate on our weekly net, that BIG voice was unmistakable. Being the sole caretaker of his mom, it was hard for Bill to attend many events.  He made a special trip to Hamfest in Loomis last March to meet me and it was great to put a face with the voice. 🙂

Bill’s voice, laugh, and calm demeanor will certainly be missed.  If I hear about a celebration of life, I’ll make sure to share the information here.
