It’s that time of the year – The Wildflower Century Bike Ride! The event will be on Sunday April 28th. GEARS will be supporting the event however they’re looking for volunteers to be stationed along the bike route.
The Chico Velo Team is also in need of amateur radio operators with vehicles (and mobile APRS capable rigs) to be “Supply and Gear” (SAG) vehicles. These volunteers should have a vehicle large enough to carry a bike and a rider. There are usually two of these vehicles running all day (pretty much 10 – 11 hours). GEARS is looking for 3 or 4 volunteers so they can limit duties to 5 or 6 hours each. Velo has offered gas gift cards for volunteers in these positions.
This is a fun way to help out with a wonderful community event and share our unique talents. There is also a t-shirt and meal offered to all volunteers.
